Office Hour: Wednesday at 9 or if my door is open stop in and I'll see you or tell you when I can. You can also call Rhondda at 244-7310 and she can schedule an appointment for us to meet.
Text: The Historical Development of the Calculus, C. H. Edwards Jr.
Homework: During each lecture I will be posting suggested ``homework problems.'' These will be collected and a portion of them graded. At least 25% of every exam will also be taken from these problems (exactly as they appear in the text). It is hoped that you will work on the problems both on your own and in small groups. Some class time will also be spent going over solutions to some of the more difficult or confusing exercises.
Exams: There will be three exams during the semester. At least 25% of these exams will be taken from the suggested homework problems. Exams are not curved but may be scaled. The final is early in the week and NO special arrangements for taking it later will be made. The dates of the exams are:
| Exam I | Monday, September 25 | Chapters 1-3 |
| Exam II | Wednesday, November 1 | Chapters 4--7 |
| Exam III | Monday, December 4 | Chapters 8--10 |
| Final | Monday, Dec. 11, 8 a.m. | Chapters 1--10 |
Grades: Grades are not curved but may be scaled. The final grade will be determined as follows:
| Homework (lowest 2 dropped, missing or late counted as a 0) | 15% |
| Midterms (3 at 20% each) | 60% |
| Final Exam | 25% |
