Scavenger Hunt 2K5 is not so much a scavenger hunt as an excuse for bad Math puns. We (will) have hidden a series of clues around the campus of the University of Illinois. Each clue will lead you to the next. The winning team will receive a copy of the August edition of the Notices of the American Mathematical Society and the adulation of their peers and a private live concert featuring the theme music of Scavenger Hunt 2K5. Take a gentle stroll across the quad while joshing merrily with your fellow phd students. Laugh at the facilely easy clues that we have devised, warmed by a sense of superiority and the summer sun.
Scavenger Hunt 2K5 was held on Saturday, 23rd of July. After hours of sweating in the sun and hours more staring at ciphertext, the grand prize was claimed. As Lisa watched, Bart and Han sprinted to the Men's bathroom together in a state of great excitement and found a copy of the August edition of the Notices. Sadly, time penalties picked up during the Battleship phase of the contest mean that they ultimately lost out to Merc, Jeff, Melissa and Sylvia in the official ranking. All the while, Jason, Carolyn and Nil weeped silently as the cherished prize slipped from their grasp. The contestants then limped back to the Antidisestablishment for beer and charred meat.
