The final exam has been graded. The scale used to set letter grades for the final exam was: 88-100 A, 76-87 B, 63-75 C, 50-62 D, 0-49 F.
Final grades were computed by weighting the various components of the course as described on the first-day syllabus (15% HW, 10% Quizzes, 20% Exam I, 20% Exam II, 35% Final Exam) and using the following scale:

The final exam will be held on Monday, December 15 from 7:00 to
10:00 pm in the regular class room.
It will be a cumulative exam, with emphasis on the material since the
last midterm (section 3.8 and all of chapter 9).
You should bring a calculator for this exam. It does NOT need to be
a graphing calculator, although you may bring a graphing calculator if
you wish.
However, I do not allow the use of certain advanced
graphing calculator models.
You may bring a 3x5 card with notes to the exam. No other reference
materials will be allowed.

There will be a review session on Saturday, December 13 from 11:00 to 12:00 in 245 Altgeld Hall.
The seventh quiz will be on Monday, December 8. It will cover sections 9.5 and 9.6.
You will need a calculator for this quiz. It does NOT need to be
a graphing calculator, although you may bring a graphing calculator if
you wish.
However, I do not allow the use of certain advanced
graphing calculator models such as the TI-89 or TI-92.
Prof. Tyson's office hour on Wednesday, December 3 will run from 1:30 to 2:00.
The sixth quiz will be on Friday, November 21. It will cover section 9.4.
You will need a calculator for this quiz. It does NOT need to be
a graphing calculator, although you may bring a graphing calculator if

The second midterm exam will be held on Friday, October 31 during class. It will cover sections 2.1, 2.2 and 3.1--3.6.
You will need a calculator for this exam. It does NOT need to be
a graphing calculator, although you may bring a graphing calculator if
you wish.
However, I do not allow the use of certain advanced
graphing calculator models such as the TI-89 or TI-92.

The fourth quiz will be on Friday, October 24. It will cover sections 3.4 and 3.5.

graphing calculator models such as the TI-89 or TI-92.
The third quiz will be on Monday, October 13. It will cover
the material on second-order linear equations in sections 3.1 and
3.3.
(Section 3.3 deals with solutions to constant coefficient linear
equations of arbitrary order, but the quiz will only cover the theory
for second-order equations. Most of what you need to know can be found
in section 3.1.)

Prof. Tyson's office hour from 10:00 to 11:00 on Thursday, October 2 is CANCELLED.

The second quiz will be on Friday, September 19. It will cover sections 1.4 and 1.5.
Wednesday, September 17: Class will meet in the Engineering
Hall Linux Lab (EH 406 B1) from 12:00-1:00 and 4:00-5:00.
We will work through the second IODE lab, which you can download
here.
Please come to the computer lab during the same time slot that you
came previously.
The first quiz will be on Friday, September 5. It will cover sections 1.1 and 1.2.
Wednesday, September 3: Class will meet in the Engineering Hall Linux Lab (EH 406 B1).
Non-Engineering students registered in this course must email me
within the first week of classes
with their NetID so that I can create an account for them in the EWS
