Textbook: Linear Algebra, 4th edition, by
Friedberg, Insel and Spence (Prentice-Hall, 2003)
Daily assignments: There will be a reading assignment
for each class. Each day of class discussion will presuppose
familiarity with the material from the previous night's reading. One
or two daily homework problems will be assigned at the end of each
class. These will not be collected or graded, but may be discussed at
the following class meeting. Come to class prepared to discuss these
problems!
Homework: There will be periodic graded homework
assignments. You are encouraged to work on the homework in groups,
although each student should submit a separate set of solutions.
(Please indicate which other students you collaborated with, if
any.) Class participation and discussion will be an important
component of your grade.
Exams: There will be three midterm exams and a
cumulative final exam.
Grading Policy: Grades will be computed according to the
following percentages:

20% each
Final (1:30 pm - 4:30 pm, Monday, May 5 in 343 Altgeld Hall)
