Graduate Teaching Assistant

Department of Mathematics

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

I’m a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Mathematics, where I have the pleasure of working with Dr. Robert Ghrist.  I’m graduating this year, and am looking forward joining the fine folks at the University of Portland in the fall.

This semester, Spring 2009, I’m teaching a section of Precalculus (Math 115) in the Merit Workshop Program.  Visit my teaching page for more course-related information.

My mathematical interests include geometry, topology and geometric group theory.  My thesis work involves the application of geometric and topological tools to problems that arise in robotics and various other settings.  You’ll find specifics on my research page, where you’ll also find some neat pictures.

When I manage to find a few hours free outside of teaching and research I enjoy ballet class, cooking, gardening, and indulging my cats.  Take a look at my personal page if you’re interested.
