Here is the review sheet for the final. The review session will be on Tuesday, 11May10, beginning at 11am, in our usual classroom, 241 Altgeld.
The final exam will be Wednesday, 12May10, from 7-10pm in our usual classroom (241 Altgeld Hall). The final will be cumulative (with slightly more emphasis on the new material since Exam 3) and will be worth as much as two midterm exams.
Monday, 19Apr10:
The group project is available for those who missed class on Friday, and can be turned in next week (but you won't get the group points).
Monday, 19Apr10:
Exam 3 is next Friday, 23Apr10. The exam topics are here.
Tuesday, 13Apr10:
Wednesday's quiz will cover nonrenewable resources, economics of harvesting, and a bit of chaos theory.
As announced in class, there is an opportunity coming up to allow you to replace one of your quiz scores with a perfect 20. To do this you need to attend the Math in Science and Society talk on forensic science (description, poster) at 4pm on Tuesday, 20Apr10, in 314 Altgeld Hall, and make sure whoever is taking attendance for Math 181 (all sections) knows that you are there.
Tuesday, 06Apr10:
The group work will continue this Wednesday. The quiz on Wednesday will cover sections 23.1 and 23.3, which we covered last week and at the beginning of Monday's class.
Friday, 02Apr10:
Next Monday, 05Apr10, we will have a group work day on the subject of nonrenewable resources. Part of your grade on the project will be on your participation in class on that day.
Tuesday, 16Mar10:
Friday's exam will be on sections 21.1-21.5 and 22.1-22.3. Remember to bring calculators! The promised formula sheet is here.
The homework assignment due Friday has been reduced, since some of the book problems were unclear. The problems eliminated are 30, 33, 35, and 36.
Tuesday, 09Mar10:
Remember to bring calculators for the quiz this Wednesday!
Tuesday, 23Feb10:
This week's quiz will be on Friday instead of Wednesday. There is also homework due on Friday (assigned last Monday and this Monday).
Wednesday, 17Feb10:
Solutions are now posted through HW3, Quiz 3, and Mini-Quiz 9. The exam consists of 12 problems, including definitions, concepts, and computation/execution type questions. You should look through your quizzes and assignments for ideas on the sort of problems to expect. Please be on time on Friday, so we can start on time.
Friday, 12Feb10:
Reminder: Exam 1 is next Friday, 19Feb10.
Wednesday, 10Feb10:
Please remember to turn in all of your homework this week. Many people are forgetting one or more days of the assignments, and homework grades are suffering as a result.
Monday, 08Feb10:
Wednesday's quiz will cover the past week of class: minimum-cost spanning trees to simple scheduling (2-processor variety).
Monday, 01Feb10:
The last part of the homework due this Friday is now online. Wednesday's quiz will cover the first part of Chapter 2, including the two algorithms we talked about today in class (so through page 48 of your text). Remember that I have office hours on Tuesdays from 2-2:50pm if you have questions before the quiz.
Sunday, 31Jan10:
You can now log in and see your scores using the link above. It will prompt you for your NetID and Bluestem password.
Wednesday, 26Jan10:
You'll be able to see your grades starting sometime this weekend. We will be using the math department score reporting system, not Compass (I'll provide a link to them).
Monday, 25Jan10:
Wednesday's quiz will be on Chapter 1. Start reading Chapter 2.
Sunday, 24Jan10:
You should finish reading Chapter 1 for Monday's lecture.
Friday, 22Jan10:
Office hours will be Tuesdays 2-2:50pm and Fridays 11-11:50am in 110 Altgeld.
I will post a link to grades when the site is set up next week.
