Warren Buck: A Brief Autobiography

I am originally from Danville, Illinois, which is approximately half an hour directly east of Urbana. I graduated Danville High School with honors in 1998. I received my bachelor's degree in mathematics education from Eastern Illinois University (EIU) in 2002. EIU is located in Charleston, Illinois, which is approximately an hour directly south of Urbana. I graduated from EIU summa cum laude with university honors. While earning my bachelor's, I tutored in the following courses: college algebra, elementary statistics, calculus 1, calculus 2, calculus 3, business calculus, finite mathematics, linear algebra, computer science 1, foundations of mathematics, Euclidean geometry, non-Euclidean geometry, abstract algebra, statistics 1, chemistry 1, Spanish 1, and French 1. I student taught at Lockport Township High School (LTHS) under Ms. Julia Hudson. LTHS is located in Lockport, Illinois, which is approximately five minutes north of Joliet. While I was at LTHS, I taught consumer mathematics, advanced algebra, and trigonometry. After receiving my teaching certificate, I substitute taught in various public schools in Champaign and Urbana.

I received a degree of Master of Arts in mathematics from Eastern Illinois University in 2004. In order to receive my master's, I completed a thesis, titled Cyclic Rings. My thesis advisor was Dr. Leo Comerford. While earning my master's, I taught college algebra, and I tutored in the following courses: elementary statistics, calculus 1, Euclidean geometry, abstract algebra, and point-set topology. During the summer after I received my master's, I taught trigonometry at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, which is approximately fifteen miles west of Charleston.

I am currently in the doctorate program in mathematics here at the University of Illinois. I have been attending here since 2004. I have completed my comprehensive examinations. I plan on concentrating in algebraic number theory. During the fall semester of 2004 and the spring and fall semesters of 2005, I was a TA for MATH 117 (Elementary Mathematics). During the spring semester of 2006, I was a TA for MATH 103 (Theory of Arithmetic). I have also tutored in the following courses: college algebra, calculus 1, business calculus, finite mathematics, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and algebraic number theory. During the summer of 2006, I taught MATH 012 (College Algebra). For the past two semesters, I was a TA for both MATH 103 and MATH 117, and I am a TA for MATH 117 this semester.
