Research Areas

Graph Theory
I am interested in the algebraic aspects of graph theoretical problems such as automorphism groups of graphs, the various matrices associated with graphs and representing graphs as algebraic objects such as vector spaces. In particular, I study distance transitive and distance regular graphs in a variety of contexts. I am also interested in the applications of these ideas to questions in computer science and communications.

Group Theory
Earlier in my career, I was active in studying finite p-groups and the varieties they generate. The subject matter can be seen as a part of Universal Algebra as well the Theory of Groups. The aim of my work was to develop a set of numerical invariants that would completely determine the variety of a given finite p-group. After a good deal of activity in the 60's and 70's, the subject is now in a period of quiescence and in recent years I have become more of a spectator than a participant.
